$950,000 awarded for Swingspan Revitalization
06/05/2025
Yesterday marked a HUGE step in the adaptive reuse project of the Harmar Bridge. The HHBC worked with the City of Marietta to submit a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant application through the Ohio Department of Transportation in November 2024. And we received word yesterday, that we will receive $950,000 in funding to begin work on the turnspan. While we will be responsible to match a portion of this grant and this is the first step of many to come, today, we and this community should celebrate the years of fundraising and support that have made this moment possible.
From the bottoms of all of our hearts at the Historic Harmar Bridge Company, thank you. Our community has spoken - and they are hearing us.
More information is to come soon, but for now, please see the incredible reporting by our local news networks on this incredible opportunity:
Please note in the Marietta Times Article the following correction: the anticipated costs for the project chosen are estimated to be $20 Million, not the reported $40 Million.
